Codes of Practice
The TBA works with the HBLB to produce the annual Codes of Practice, which set out voluntary recommendations to help breeders, in conjunction with their veterinarians, prevent and control specific equine diseases. The committee includes representatives from the TBA, HBLB veterinary advisory committee, Newmarket Stud Farmers’ Association, Animal & Plant Health Agency, British Equine Veterinary Association and the British Horse Society. France, Germany, Ireland and Italy are also represented on this group.
The Codes are a best practice document to help encourage high bio-security standards across the thoroughbred and wider equine breeding sector.
TBA members can request a printed copy of the book. Please contact the TBA office to request a copy.
Alternatively, both members and non-members can download the EquiBioSafe app on both the App Store (For Apple devices), or Google Play (For Android devices).
The Newmarket Stud Farmers Association (NSFA) also provides guidelines and breeding certificates to support the prevention and control of equine infectious disease during covering activities.
