Expert panel assembled for Warwick Breeders' Day 'Starting Young' forum
The Thoroughbred Breeders’ Association (TBA) is delighted to announce an expert panel for the National Hunt Breeders’ Forum taking place on Thursday 21 November as part of the inaugural Breeders’ Day at Warwick racecourse where the both the race programme for the afternoon and supporting activity is centered around NH breeders.
Hosted by Racing TV’s Jess Stafford, an expert panel has been assembled including; TBA National Hunt Committee Chair and small breeder, Simon Cox, young horse producer, pinhooker and point-to-point handler, Charlie Poste, Alne Park Stud’s director, Grace Skelton, expert veterinarian, John Spencer, and Jess Westwood, consignor and owner of Molland Ridge Stud.
With the title ‘Starting Young’, the panel will discuss some of the challenges facing NH breeders currently with important healthy debate around viable solutions to help alleviate these issues. Headline topics due to be covered include breeding horses for the sales ring verses the racecourse, preparation techniques of young horses and getting them racing younger with Junior NH Hurdles an option.
Charlie Poste commented: “I’m delighted to form part of the Breeders' Day forum panel, and it will provide the ideal opportunity to properly discuss the challenges that are facing the NH breeding community currently. I look forward to hearing from all the attendees and chatting about what we can do to create a healthier industry. It’s really encouraging to see Warwick’s support of the day, with a race programme designed with breeders in mind.”
Simon Cox, TBA trustee and NH committee chair added: “To have a raceday centered around breeders – those who are generating the product - is so important. There are so many smart breeders who want to see the sport thrive and to collectively talk about the challenges and possible solutions is really important.
“We have got a great panel lined up, all coming from a different aspect, and in partnership with Warwick are really looking to build a highly educational and informative day.”
The forum will get underway in The Pavillion at 10am with doors opening from 9am providing plenty of time for networking with refreshments on arrival. Situated next to the pre-parade ring, the dedicated space will be a base that all attendees will be able to make use of throughout the day.
