Ten routine checks for breeders at the start of the season

1. Are all active mares registered as broodmares with Weatherbys?

2. Has a transfer of ownership record been completed with Weatherbys for any recently purchased thoroughbreds?

3. Have 30 day Foal Notifications been completed or scheduled to ensure all British-bred thoroughbreds are eligible to race?

4. Have Stage 3 Flat GBB registrations been processed for all eligible two-year-old fillies (deadline: 28th February) and Stage 1 GBB registrations planned for all eligible foals (opens: 1st July, closes: 30th September)?

5. Have the Equine Influenza (EI) and Equine Herpesvirus (EHV) vaccination records for mares due to travel to France for covering been carefully checked (boosters no more than 6 months apart) and re-started where required?

6. Have the requirements for EVA blood testing of mares and updates to the HBLB International Codes of Practice been noted?

7. Has saliva or blood ELISA Tapeworm testing for adult stock been scheduled (due March/April)? Speak to your regular attending veterinary surgeon to find out more.

8. Have routine health examinations (dental checks etc) been performed or scheduled?  Speak to your regular attending veterinary surgeon/equine dentist to find out more.

9. Have the passports for any deceased thoroughbreds been returned to Weatherbys with a note to confirm the date of death?
