James Coburn Farriers
James moved to England from Northern Ireland when he was 18 to pursue an apprenticeship in farriery. He intended to set up a farriery business once he had qualified after 4 years.
However, he was give the opportunity to become farrier to Luca Cumani upon completing his apprenticeship and stayed with him at Bedford House Stables until Luca’s retirement in 2018. James then took over Simon Curtis’s business shortly after he announced his retirement and took over his forge nestled at the bottom of Warren Hill. He has steadily grown his business and run a team of 6/7 farriers/apprentices. He has been lucky enough to work at some prestigious farms over the years including New England Stud, Cheveley Park and Newsells Park Stud. I have a strong passion for stud farriery and corrective work with foals and yearlings and he is currently working towards achieving his Fellowship specialising in foal work.
